Oh how I thought I had been proactive registering the children in their new school the day we moved to town and two months before the first day of school. I walked into the school office with my three inch PCS binder in hand and proudly produced every piece of required paperwork they wanted; times two. I had current IEP’s, birth certificates, shot records and everything else. So imagine my bewilderment, annoyance and then pissed off self when the school called this morning telling me I had to immediately pick up a blue state health assment form from school and how she couldn’t return until her state health assessment was completed and returned.
I had no freaking clue what they were talking about. As far as I knew I had done my part. My children had received their physicals the moment we got to town. I had proof of it in the Army health assessment form I had (and was currently looking at because I still hadn’t turned it in. Opps). So why was school calling me and telling me my children had no physical?
I was pissed. Did school not know I had shopping to do and a play date for SB at the library today. I had no time for this crap. Instead, I drove to school to grab the stupid blue paper this state requires. I walked into the office and the first thing they did was not hand me the paper, but Diva! I must have looked pretty stupid to the office workers. So apparently, as I learned, Diva could not return to school until that stupid blue paper was filled out and returned too.
I run 20 minutes to the next town over prepared to hand them bribe money to get this stupid blue paper completed. They would happily take my money; but only if I had her shot records too.
I think that was when I turned into the Hulk.
Whatever. In the end Diva got a free day off school and tomorrow she WILL be returning with that stupid blue sheet all fancy and filled out. It might be a little damp, but that’s not my spit. It will be from the tears spilled from lost me time. Buttheads. So lesson here folks is find out your gaining States policy and required forms when enrolling your children in school.
